Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centers (IASLIC) in association with Assam Library Association (ALA), Assam College Librarians' Association (ACLA) and the Dept of Library and Information Science, GU is organizing a one day programme at Guwahati (Sangitacharya Lakshiram Barua Sadan) for celebrating the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr S R Ranganathan, Father of Library Science in India. The programme will be on 14th September, 2017 to be started with floral tribute at the portrait of Dr Ranganathan, a panel discussion on "Revisiting Ranganathan" and the open Session. The Eastern Zone IASLIC meet also will be held coinciding the celebration. Prof Alaka Buragohain will coordinate the Panel Discussion to be participated by Prof N N Sharma, Prof Narendra Lahkar, Prof R K Barman, Prof S K Singh and others. The open session will be presided over by Dr J N Satpathy, President, IASLIC and Sri Rabendra Kumar Das, IAS (Rtd) and former Commissioner and Secretary, Govt of Assam will be the Guest of honour. Three Publications one each from ALA, ACLA and the Dept of Library and Information Science, GU will also be released on the occasion. The organizers request all, especially the LIS professionals for attending the programme.
